In my local Factory Shop (The Original factory shop) yesterday I came across  pile of dash cams at £15 each.

I couldn't resist getting a couple,one for the back of the Fabia and one to take with me if and when I use my daughters or a rental car.

Made By Itek they claim 1080x 720 or 640x480. All the usual features "motion detect",Auto on when powered.

Up to 32Gb micro sd.

Not tried in anger yet but both powered up and recorded when tested on internal battery.

Think I only paid about £12 for mine from eBay, works well in HD with a decent microSD card in it. Now thinking of getting another one to fit in the rear as well, tailgating seems to be getting more common these days
