SMIC upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi newbie here so any help appreciated, and I have searched a lot before posting here.

I want a replacement SMIC, all metal with simple hose and jubilee type connectors, anything exist?

I just want rid of the vag clips so I will replace the upper and lower pipes and do the erf delete thingy, keeping the asv cos it's a blt engine.

I have found a SMIC with simple jubilee clip type pipes but it's plastic!

Is any other Audi or golf SMIC a straight swap?

Any advice please

thx for the link Duck, i had actually seen that - interesting but the angled top pipe points about 90 deg in the wrong direction, and the standard is already pretty cramped in there - so i was hoping to read someone had actually fitted it to a vrs - but no such luck.

I fitted that intercooler to a Fabia.

Was a right chew on and not really worth it.

Also thougt about doing that a while ago but changed my mind after talking to huchkys an others.

Saving up for either a custom fmic or forge instead

thanks guys, exactly what i thought - so frustrating. I can find a exact replacement with jubilee type connectors - but the ends are plastic - maybe see how much to have a custom one made :-)

Hardly worthwhile to go custom unless you pick it up really cheaply IMO. Their is always someone selling second hand FMICs which would work better anyway due to the location.
