I have a 2016 Octavia VRS.

 

I Have been offered some wheels size as below. Can anyone confirm if these will fit ok clearances etc?

 

Wheel 8.5 x 20 ET35 Tyres 225 35 20

 

Currently I have the 19 Extremes fitted.

My gut reaction is that the tyre size is too big as the extremes run 225/35 19 anyway, you would probably need 225/30 20 if they make one that size

You also need to ensure that they have the same stud pattern and centre bore size.

 

A quick test fit on one of the front wheels will only take 10 mins and give you the full answer to see if they will fit or rub.

 

The tyre size will affect the speedo reading but since most speedos under read by 5% or so they will probably make the speed reading more exact.

 

Also bare in mind that any change from standard is deemed a modification by insurance companies who therefore need to be told and they (the wheels) may affect your premium, no tell and accident means no cover - big risk

35mm more poke and your speedo will be out. my recommendation would be to find something that fits better.

Looking at http://www.willtheyfit.com/ They should go on no problem.

 

3.3mm further away from the suspension strut. (More Clearance)  The outer rim will poke out 28.7mm more.

 

Some guys are running 19" Bentleys which are  e41 9j Which totals 9.1mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 29.1mm more.

 

Also some people are running 25mm Spacers on the front wheels with no issues so I think they will be fine will try them on tomorrow tonight and see.

 

I appreciate the speedo will read out by 3% so when doing 30MPH on the speedo I will actually be doing 29ish  Maybe keep some points off

Think you are looking at that the wrong way round. You will be going faster than your speedo reads. Not the best way to keep points off !

I'm with you skudshaun, I think they will fit fine too.

Though the diameter will be more scout like than VRS but a bigger diameter looks better IMHO. But yes, you will be traveling slightly faster than indicated but it's still probably closer to the real speed than the factory calibration.

The oem specs for tire size on these cars is way too conservative as far as I'm concerned.

I suppose it all comes down to your definition of "fit fine".
