Uprated bulbs

Featured Replies

Morning all :)

I have just changed my bog standard bulbs to Osram night breakers (high beam) and Phillips extreme (dipped) as now driving more on rural roads. I had the same set up on my old Fabia MK1 VRS and was impressed with it. The question is do the same bulbs look different in different cars with different head light lenses? In the Fabia the light given off was very white but in the Octavia it isn't. Not that i'm looking for white light  that is, was just curious.

Probably down to the different lights. The Octavia has projector lenses.

They can sometimes become cloudy and need cleaning so maybe check that. Remove the light housings and have a look at them from the back.

I was thinking of some extremes for dipped. Is there a significant noticeable improvement? I'm not too concerned about the high beam as they seem pretty good with ordinary halogens...

I have the extremes as dipped and they are excellent. I would rate them as being better than the xenons on my 65 plate Focus ST.

The uprated ones just seem to spread a better throw of light at the sides which I find better for picking up beasties lurking in ditches at the side of the road and aren't the stooped blue colour wee fannies seem like on the 15 year old starter car.
