How to fit genuine front wind deflectors without breaking

Featured Replies

So i bought a pair of genuine Skoda front wind deflectors from a dealer online. Got these for the reason they are Skoda branded and I heard they were the easiest to fit, no clips etc.

I actually fitted them easy enough but when I first put the windows up it snapped the top and bottom corners off the plastic lip edge. This happened on both sides. I fully followed the fitting instructions and cant see that I did anything wrong.

Anyway, they have fortunately sent me a replacement pair. What I want to know from anyone who has fitted these before is have they come across the same problem and how can I try to fit these without the same happening again. Any tips/tricks?

Guess thats a no then!

I've got the heko ones, and all I've done is put them in without clips and had no issues!

Same as above, fitted team heko ones, no clips and they are perfect

I fitted Heko ones a while back and had bits snap off too.

I removed them the same day and sold them on.

Thanks guys, I assume heko are similar fitment, but am looking for anyone who has fitted genuine ones. I am considering paying Skoda a tenner to fit them and then any breakage is on them.

If they only want £10 then it's well spent.

I'd have thought more like £60 at a dealers

They are not very easy to fit! I think I snapped of lots of little bits of plastic from the top edge thanks to the metal tool you get with them.

After about an hour I managed to get them in, but the windows refused to stay closed.  However after a couple of days they settled in and now close as expected.

Yeah, they can be awkward when first fitted.

I always close the window fully and push the glass outward from the inside and keep pressing the up button to make sure it's pushing it over as much as it can.

Leave it like that over night and it's always been fine from then on in.
