Urgent help/advice needed

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I would of liked my first post to be something other than this but here goes!

Sadly, last night i had a crash and have done some considerable damage (see pics) Aside from the obvious body work damage i have managed to bend the rear axle :(

I understand that other vehicles share the same axle, golfs, leons etc BUT, and this is where i need the help, i am of the understanding the VRS usess a thick ARB.

Does anyone know what other models shared this size ARB? As it is all good and well getting an axle that fits but not much use if it screws the handleing up!

any help would be great.

Oh and if anyone knows where/if you can get mk1 sills, please point me in the right direction :)

Thank you

I got a mk 1 sill from tps about 18 months ago. Somewhere around £110+vat I think.

I will look into that.

Thanks buddy

I believe I am correct in saying that the Leon cupra R uses the same back axle/ built in rollbar setup, not sure on the Golf.

Thank you, will see if any local being stripped :)

I believe mark IV golf should be the same too.... (don't quote me on that, but worth a punt!)

glad you are intending to save it :)

Why don't you check out the breaking section and see if someone actually has a vRS rear axle for sale?, could be a lot less agro that way - just a thought.

I love the car and it is a good runner so be a shame to scrap it!

I did not realise there was a breaking section, just new here, will take a look now :)

question though, if i can not find a specific VRS axle, will i really notice a smaller ARB for day to day driving?

As Phil said there are a few vRS's breaking in the breaking section....

additional: buy  whiteline RARB, and get some oversteer in your life ;)

I have managed to source a mk4 golf gti axle near home which uses the same ARB, phew.

as for oversteer, i had a bmw once, not into the whole sideways game lol
