Strange frozen doors..

Featured Replies

This isnt even a complaint, just a thread about a strange frost problem..

This morning was prob the coldest in Cumbria since I picked up my VRS. All doors were almost frozen shut, had to clear ice off the windscreen and front windows. I also opened the rear drivers side door to put something on the back seat. Picked up my mate for work so the passenger front had been opened, leaving only the rear passenger door as the only one unopened this morning.

So Im driving along and the door starts making a noise that sounds like the frost is continually cracking on the door seals. In 16 years of driving Ive never heard anything like it! Must be water sitting in the seals and freezing?

Anyone else??

The rear doors on my car usually freeze shut if there is a hint of frost as the door seals hold quite a bit of water, haven't heard the crackling though and don't try to put any fuel into your car if its frosty either as the fuel flap usually won't open either, which is probably why Skoda put the ice scraper in the one place you won't manage to get it if its frosty!

Exactly, use some compound for rubber around doors.

I have had my doors freezing shut, due to the door seal problem, basicaly the trapped water between both seals freezes. And have subsequently mentioned this and got the answer to the effect we dont know of upgraded seals line fron the dealer
