Featured Replies

Is there a way I can open the boot in my hatchback

It's so annoying to turn the car off and open the boot by the key fob

Push the boot opening switch on the hey, whilst sitting in the car..........

No, there is no internal release button on the mKII hatch unfortunately. A bit annoying I know. When you consider the split boot/hatch mechanism I suppose it was always going to be challenge to have an internal release.

I've tried the keyfob but u need the engine off to do it

You would think it would be standard on these models

Really ? So you are driving along and the boot opens at 70 mph I'd hate to be behind some cars you see fully laden bombing down the motorway and all of a sudden the boot opens

No as there is a speed limit set where the switch becomes immobilised (think it’s about 10mph... ish)

All possible when it is specced from new, IIRC it was a £500 option in 2010 when I ordered mine.

I'm not sure what it is you want to do.

Whilst it isn't possible to open the boot from the drivers seat it is still possible to open the boot without the keyfob.

With the engine running the boot can still be opened by pushing the button on the boot lid itself.

With all doors unlocked, with the engine running , get out and open it, the same applies with the engine stopped, you don't have to remove the key to open

Not sure (even though I owned one!) did the Superb I have an interior boot release? I vaguely remember it did?

The internal boot release is only for emergency use only - the manual has the details. I think you poke a screwdriver into a hole near the latch to release it on the kombi. If the hatch is like the Octavia you have to remove a panel on the boot lip to release the boot on the hatch version, but with a twindoor all bets are off on whether this will always work :P.

I just hit the unlock button on the door and let whoever needs to get into the boot open it themselves. If you don't have a powered boot the struts aren't strong enough to open the boot fully after the lock releases anyway. There are uprated springs available that can open the boot by itself, which is great until you do it in a low roofed multistorey car park or while parked too close to something else...

it looks impolite for me (a taxi driver) to sit fiddling with a key fob to release the tailgate while passengers stand at the rear of the car with shopping or suitcases, my next car will have a powered boot or tailgate, the lads Superb hatch SE+ Ambition twindoor has remote opening.
