service

Featured Replies

Hi everyone I've got a 2012 blackline..I normally have a friend who services it for me every year..which includes new oil oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and cabin filter.I was wondering if my car was missing out on anything by not taking it to a skoda dealer, also I'm not sure when the dsg gear will need servicing.

Regards John.

Thanks for your reply mate, how do I find out which gearbox it is, also does the cambelt need changing at any time you will have to excuse me a bit thick when it comes to cars.

The other thing to consider is whether you service it on the fixed or variable intervals. If you're doing lots of short trips/do under 10k a year/give it the beans a lot/tow something then the fixed one is for you. If you do lots of motorway journeys then you can choose the variable service which IIRC is up to 18k or 2 years. You can look in the MFD to see when the next service is due  and if it's been serviced by a main agent they will be able to tell you what's been done as it's all on Skodas database. It should have had the brake fluid changed at 3 years old too.

If it's DSG it'll be the 6 speed with the wet clutch. They seem to change their minds about the cambelt-I think it's 5 years now but not sure about the maximum milage. Give your local main dealer a call and they will tell you. If you do want to get it dealer serviced ask about a service plan as they usually work out a lot cheaper than just booking them up as and when you want one.

Thanks for your replys..great info looks like it's going to be expensive needs dsg servicing, break fluid changing and cambelt doing next year it's done 34,000 miles...

Sometimes dealers are cheaper than indies though AND you get the two year warranty on parts instead of one: this week I'm having my water pump changed at less than a ton cheaper than the next best indy. One of them quoted me 2.5 times the amount for the same job, much to my surprise!
