Wireless keyboard/mouse for media centre

Featured Replies

Hi All

Want to buy a cheapish wireless desktop set for a media centre PC, so range must be good for across the room (and through the TV, as I've stuck the PC in a tower case behind it :D ). But, range is not usually specified and the cheap ones at PC world have a range of only 1m!

Any recommendations? I like the logitech S510,

logitech wireless keyboards and mice are very good. My mate bought one years ago and the range was so good you could take the mouse downstairs and it would still work.

I had a logitech desktop mx bluetooth which was very nice. unfortunately two years later the keyboard stopped working. One phone call to logitech and four days later I had a brand new logitech dinovo media centre 2.0 (they stopped making the desktop mx so had to upgrade me to the most expensive keyboard and mouse I have ever owned.)

I would say you cant go wrong with logitech stuff these days. I would stear clear of any who flung what brands. Although they may be 10p for the set they just arent up to much

Yeah I've got an MX518 and Logitech (Navigator? something like that) keyboard on my main PC. Very good

The microsoft keyboard would be ideal but it's pricey and I bet it won't work well with MythTV/Mediaportal etc - not sure what software to use ATM. The keyboard is a good deal and can simulate a mouse and remote IIRC...but it needs the receiver that only comes with the remote so you have to buy both?! Typical

I have been thinking about this this morning and I reckon you are better off getting a decent one which may cost you a bit of money in the original outlay, but is better all round in the end. Although I didnt officially pay the money for my dinovo set, after using it for a few months I would definitely have bought one. It's just such a joy to type on and the mouse is fantastic for gaming and general pointery. the detachable number pad I originally thought would be a bit gimmicky, but it's become very useful with its media functions.

Have a look at it.

BTW you should be able to find it a lot cheaper then this is you search around, but it's gonna cost the best part of 100 notes.
