Smart link/gate Amundsen

Featured Replies

Apologies if this has already been covered!!

I have a 2015 MKIII VRS with the Amundsen unit and I have reading about smart link/gate and would like to know if anyone has had this retro fitted and activated so you can use your IPhone. I was told today by the Skoda dealership that because of the age of my car it's not possible. I want to add that the guys and gals at my local dealership are amazing and have gone above and beyond to help me on a couple occasions but I'm just not sure about this. Any info would be greatfuly apriciated ????

I think all you need is an Activation Code, supplied by the dealer but at a cost. £100/£150 I think

They might not know what there talking about, most don't

I have it on my2016 and cant really see the point of it over what I already have in the car. Sometimes it doesn't connect and comes up with an error and you also have the unsightly lead plugged in . I've used it a couple of times and have given up now.

Are smart link and smart gate the same thing? I'm interested in Apple connect.

Smartlink is only possible if you have a MIB2 infotainment, which was first fitted to MY16 cars, which were built from the end of May 2015 onwards. If your car is older than that Smartlink won't be possible.

There have been a few reports here suggesting that fitting Smartgate is possible, but I know nothing about it.

Smartlink is connecting your mobile with Apple car play or Android auto. Can be a bit troublesome from what I read.

Smartgate is an app which connects to an optional module giving you telemetry data etc, maybe for trackdays?

A quick Google explains all.

As you already have Amunsen with Nav, SD card or USB for music or bluetooth music streaming I'd save your £150.
