Pasenger airbag on/off light is on/off. Why?

Featured Replies

The on/off warning light for the passenger airbag in the middle of the dash is alternating between showing that the airbag is on and not showing anything at all. Although I don't see the point in a ligth showing that the airbag is on (in my old superb it only showed when it was off), the fact that the "on" light is off makes me wonder if the airbag is also off....

Is it normal that this warning light sometimes shows nothing at all while driving? And at other times shows "airbag on"?

The light shows initially then goes off on my car (air bag is on). Would not want a distracting light on all the time surely. But if the light is going off and on (when the air bag is on) that is not right. If the airbag was switched off, then I'd expect an occasional reminder to switch it back on, for safety reasons.

Just my opinion.

OK, I'll check if mine is the same. Had not really paid attention to when it is on and when it is not.

It comes on initially when you start the car as a 'check' that it works, then it goes off and stays off.
