R8 coil packs

Featured Replies

ive been looking for a better set of coil packs for the 1.4 tsi engine. ive come across these OEM R8 coil pack http://www.hstuning.com/product_info.php?products_id=3695

Allthought the fabia vrs engine is not listed i did manage to find an adapter fot it

http://www.tmg-performance.com/en/r8.html

i was just wondering if anyone has done this or has any insight into this theyd be willing to share, as i dont really want to fork out for the packs and the adapter and then they not fit.

I basically want a decent set of coil packs to replace the standard factory ones so if anyone could recomend some other makes that would be greatly apreciated.

Cheers guys,

Big Dan.

They will fit and several members have had them fitted, they might be along with their experience.

They do what it says on the tin.  With a standard map i personally would not bother, but then i am tight.

Ah nice one , i wasnt 100% sure, but if others have done it then i will look into getting them.

Ive heard from a few people saying the standard packs arnt that good, and i keep getting missfires and ive recently changed the plugs too.

Im also looking at getting it mapped in the next few months hopefully, so trying to upgrade as much parts as i can.

i found this package on the same website as the other link i posted http://www.tmg-performance.com/en/products/ignition/r8-335.html,

its the packs and the adapter and it says without gap , there is an alternative that doesnt mention the gap and is cheaper. what gap would ot be talking about ?

Also from looking at the pciture it doesnt look exactly like my engine.

You said before about hearing this from people.  Do these people run Twinchargers, or tuned Twinchargers?

Surprisingly the Ignition Coils that are the standard fitment do just fine on a standard car.

If getting a Remap then as well to get the R8's,  but do not get a remap until you know the fault with your engine now.

If coils then that is easy to find out, if something else, best get that sorted.

*Their Remaps for a Twincharger are cr4p IMO, the advice is good though.*

I think Ant-Vrs's Smoothed & Bagged Build Thread in the Fabia Projects has a picture with what he fitted.

& there are other threads from members.

EDIT.

yeah ive spoken to a couple of people with modified twim charged engines.

and cheers il check Ant's build out.

yeah i was looking at the issues on the revo site earlier, im defiently going to leave off getting a map unitl im 100% certain all issues are fixed and all parts that need replacing or upgrading have been done.

would you recomend the revo map , or would you suggest a custom map , i know a garage in lancaster were he writes his own custom maps for the car and put it on his built in the ground rolling road.

I recommend you go no place near REVO.

Get the safe Stage 1 when you know your engine is OK.

Mine has an APR Stage 1 - I'd definitely recommend it. You get 4 different modes on it, all controlled by the cruise control stalk.
