Sound proofing tips

Featured Replies

Hi all, i'm looking to buy some dynamat to help sound proof my VRS. First i'll be doing the doors. Just looking for some tips here, such is it best to attached the Dynamat to the door or the door card...or both?! How much of the available space should i cover with it? I've read that its not nessacary to smuther it in the stuff

I see theres different types of dynamat available as well, which is best

Normally to the door, not the door card. It is designed to upset the noise harmonics and absorb them from the bodywork. Haven't used that product myself so can't help with the best one to use. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

what did you use?

I made two simple changes that helped our Fabia. I had some good quality carpet underlay left over, cut a piece out to go under the boot carpet and under the rear bench. Made a big difference to just quieten down the rear end

I did the car with Dynamatt Extreme.

Do the metal on the door as much as you can, no point doing the door card.

Try and get as much in to the outer skin of the door as you can too.

Also, do the boot floor under the spare wheel and underneath the back seats.

Hope this helps.

Nice one thanks, was thinking of boot and under rear seat as well and probably leaving it at that

Whether you need to do the doors or the floor more will depend on whether you're trying to reduce road noise (floor) or "drumming" (doors).

In the past I have used flashback which is quite dense and although used for roofing is a great alternative
