Pd 150 Head bolt change

Featured Replies

I'm planning on changing my cars headbolts very soon as the cars running 224 hp and 350 lb of torque it's boosting at 1.9 bar on a stage 2 hybrid turbo I haven't experienced head lift yet as I am quite sensible driving the car anyway has anyone got any advice please on the torque pattern etc of the headbolts and do I need to change the cam cover rubber gasket and bolts Aswell once it's all fitted?

Do a search in this section of the forum and there will be a few threads from recently with information on the change over. It is easiest to do one at a time, remove one old bolt and replace with a new one, fully torq up, then two 90° to stretch it (can't remember if it was 60nm then two 90° turns, don't take that as gospel as I can't be certain but it is similar), then onto the next one.

Only problem you will have is the intake pipe sits slightly over one of the bolts so will either need loosening off to get the bolt out or cut the bolt in half once it is halfway out/ find some other way.

Is it a ASZ or BLT engine?

ASZ you can remove the headbolts and replace ok,if it's a BLT as above one bolt won't come out past the inlet manifold.

So you need to slacken off the inlet manifold retaining bolts so you can slide it away from the engine slightly :)

Cam cover gasket I would change, cam cover retaining bolts don't need changing.

Thanks both for the replies it's the asz so won't be a problem with the bolts I haven't had any problems yet the cars going strong but I will change after Xmas just for peace of mind and ready for the odd track day next year :-)

Yeah its best to change them now before you get any headlift for sure :)

Thanks for clarifying! I thought they were both the same. Pesky blt engine codes ... ;)
