Hi - I'm new to the forum. I have a 1.9 tdi Octavia and I'm trying to do an oil change. I was relieved to quite easily be able to remove the cap. But.... I can't get the old filter out of the cap of the the housing. Looking at the new filter it has clips on the top that secure it to the housing cap. I tried pulling the old one down thinking with some force the clips would unclip themselves but so far no luck and I don't want to damage anything using screwdriver etc to try pry it out. I tried pulling it at an angle and every other way I could think.

Does anyone know of a trick to get the filter off the cap?

They do just pull out but good luck anyway
