Radiator/head gasket/fans in car not working properly problem?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone hope you are all well.

I haven't posted for nearly a year I have had to create a new account my old username was fesal123.

Recently I have noticed my fans don't heat up that quickly and the needle on the dash that monitors how quickly the car heats up doesn't ever seem to move even though I've been driving the car for e.g an hour.

My friends say that when they've been in the car passenger side foot well heaters are always cold but on my side fans are warm? I'm not a car maintenance guy at all so I had a chat with my Dad and he reckons it may be a radiator problem it needs bleeding? I have a Haynes manual and in there it states every 2 years this requires doing which I know I've never done since I have had the car.

My eldest brother reckons it's the head gasket going which from previous experience I know is really expensive.

I apologise in advance if this question may be answered elsewhere on the forum or if it sounds like I'm having a rant. If anyone has any experience with what my problem may be or any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated as I've said I'm a car novice!

Thanks in advance I'm confused what I should do!

May need a new thermostat

New thermostat. I had this issue. Replaced my 'stat yesterday and now it gets up to temp and the heaters blow out toasty warm air.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm thinking a thermostat shouldn't be too expensive and easy to replace for an experienced home mechanic? ( I'm thinking my dad could have a go) or have a go myself following the Haynes manual?

It's a three spanner job which means 'fairly difficult suitable for competent DIY mechanic' which I am most definitely not. Any further opinions or advice would be helpful. Appreciate everyone's time with helping me with this issue. Snooker is on if anyone interested in that. Thanks
