Re fitting oil guide tube which went loose

Featured Replies

Hi there guys,

I was checking the oil level and I might have pulled the dipstick too hard.. the whole oil guide tube went loose. I was trying to re fit it as it supposed to hold on a hook and a screw. The thing is, after I screwed it back together, it holds ok, but it looks like it didn't go deep enough. I took a pic of the situation. http://imgur.com/L0gQclu

At the end of the guide tube there is a a rubber seal. I'm not sure if I should put the guide tube more downwards and how to do it. Using a hand only, that's as far as I can go.

Any suggestions?

Judging by the 'hook & bolt' pic which suggests it needs to go further down into the block, I would imagine that the O ring should also enter the block. Perhaps you may have to make up some sort of a part tube tool to be able to tap it back into the block.

That's what I would do.

Indeed, it needs to sit further down, make sure the o-ring is lubricated and give it a good shove.
