Wheels are really hot after 2 miles & wife is stuck in Glasgow with car

Featured Replies

Anyone got ideas on this one....

My wife is in Glasgow (250 miles from home) in the Superb - 2014 estate 2.0 diesel. It's done 40,000, recently serviced.

She's phoned to say the wheels are hot after a 2 mile journey, fronts as well as rear (so wouldn't be handbrake) and the fan is on for quite a while after the key is out.

This seems really odd as maybe 1 wheel could be explained but 3 or 4 ?? It's driving well but how could that happen in such a short journey.

She's panicking as needs to drive home tomorrow....

Any thoughts/suggestions? She's going to give it a run first thing. There's Skoda assistance which is still valid. Or shed in about taking into a local dealer...

Help!

Skoda Assist first.

Find out what is up before getting into Glasgow morning Traffic.

Henry's if it must go to a Garage, Not Arnold Clark

?

Did that service at 40,000 miles have them changing the brake fluid?

Yes let the recovery/warranty sort it out. Ditto Henry's on the West side of central Glasgow.

Fans on after shutdown sounds like she interrupted a regen. There'd be enough heat hanging around the engine bay and exhaust area to make it feel like the wheels are hot? I'd second the others though: if you have access to Skoda Assist, get them out to check it. It's straightforward for them to check the measuring blocks for distance since last regen.

Ok thanks for those- reassuringly consistent responses...

Can't remember if they changed the brake fluid. They said one wheel was buckled a bit ???? and another 2 very slightly on the service but that's not going to explain things....

Think I'll ask her to give it a run then a call to Skoda assistance.

Thanks

I had a dragging rear caliper on a previous car and the heat was noticeable as I walked past the car after parking if it was just off a motorway run.

I've had a stuck caliper on one car and walking past it was like walking past an electric bar heater. I wasn't going to try touching the wheel.
