Crazy idea, thoughts? (4x4 fast MK2!)

Featured Replies

So I was having a chat with a fellow MK2 VRS owning colleague and we were discussing the idea of making a fast petrol (VRS ish) MK2 4x4. Rather than converting a VRS to 4wd, why not de-scout a 1.8tsi scout. So remove all the plastic bits of trim, fit VRS bumpers, lower it, nice wheels, at least stage 1 remap. Have I missed anything?

It may be possible to carry out all the mods for £2000 I reckon, especially if working of eBay, right?

Would it really be that simple? Has anyone done this before?

Discuss!!

I guess you'd want the VRS brakes and the ARBs too...

Already been done. One is a 2.0tsi and the other is a vr6 engined. One of them had Audi s3 running gear and suspension fabricated in.

A vRS can be converted to 4WD for not much more than £5-6k

Are you keeping the 1.8tsi or dropping in a 2.0?

I probably will never get round to it, but in theory I'd just keep the 1.8 and start with a stage 1.

Does anyone know if any suspension other than springs and dampers is different on scout?

I was informed a long time ago now, that the arms are longer to accommodate the longer suspension . That could be all BS, but does kinda make sense to me anyway lol.
