about MAF - from Armenia

Featured Replies

Hello All,

My Octy 2001 2.0L recently made me trouble and after longlasting tests by the "experts" they came to conclusion - bad MAF. I was shocked to hear $500 for the new MAF. After surfing hours and days in the Internet I found your web-site from where I heard that it is possible to clean the MAF with 90% alcohol or alternatively Carb Cleaner. I followed the instructions and was very surprised to see that Carb Cleaner made its job!!!, for which I was proposed to pay $500. Now its working and my Octy begun to run as a new one!!!.

I would like to thank all the members of web-site for very practical, useful and cost-saving advices.

Vlad

Good to hear you have got it working again. However, if it has needed a claen the chances are you will need to buy a new one in the not too distant future.

I read on another VAG related site not to use carb cleaner though.

Isopropyl alcohol - also known as IPA - is a better cleaner to use since it leaves no residue. But Vlad has had a good result and bought some more time for his car's MAF.
