Hi from a forum newbie

Hi guys,

Just got a lovely 1.2tsi Monty so I thought it best that I check in with you for some good advice and how to vids. I came to Skoda many years ago when I ceased to be self employed and I had to send the contract Audi back, so what did I do? I bought a Skoda Octavia 2lt petrol then had a Superb 1.9tdi pd for quite a few years and here we are again after a brief spell with a Nissan. Although the Monty is my wife's car it was my choice and I'll be in the drivers seat as much as I can.

I think it's bloody great.

Hello fellow Skoda lovers,

As suggested here's a quick introduction;

I'm hoping to soon join the Skoda community by picking myself up a Mk1 Octavia VRS, and by joining this forum I thought I could benefit from some buying advice and maybe even find myself a well looked after car from a proper Skoda enthusiast!

I've owned a few "brisk" motors over the years including a;

- Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo

- Mk1 Saab 9-3 Coupe remapped to 250bhp

- Mk2 MX5

- Toyota Celica VVTI 190

I currently own the Celica which is a great car for the price but all the power is up top and I really miss the mid range pull I used to get from the Fiat and the Saab!

The VRS should fulfil this need while at the same time reward me with reliability and practically and hopefully decent enough handling.

All the cars I mentioned had their pluses and minuses but it was probably the Saab which ticked the most boxes and I'd probably still own it today had it not been written off! The VRS is quite similar in a way with a tuneable torquey mid range engine, understated looks and a highly practical cavernous boot with folding seats. I also like that it has such a friendly and resourceful community much like the Saab!

Both Skoda and Saab have not always got the credit they deserve and are often looked down on by fellow car owners and their badge snobbery! The plus side to this is that it creates a community that pulls together and shares our love of these understated but rewarding cars by people who have actually driven them and appreciate just how great they can be!

Anyway I'm starting to ramble now and this was meant to be a 'quick' introduction so I better leave it at that!

Please get in touch if you have a Mk1 Octavia VRS for sale and live in the south of England?

Sorry I didn't mean to add the previous post to this thread!...newbie mistake!

Hello Barnie, welcome and enjoy the Monty!
