Mk2 vrs with no keys

Featured Replies

Hey guys. Just purchased a mk2 estate with no keys and what seems like an attempted hotwire situation.

I'm more than confident in repairing wires etc but is there away of removing the steering lock without a key?

Next question, can I purchase and fit a lockset, convenience module, set of clocks and immobiliser pickup from a non estate and will it work ok?

  1. Ye wot!!!!? Are you sure you bought the car from the legal owner (not the "registered keeper" since they don not have to be the same person and a V5 is not proof of ownership).

You need, repeat need, to drill out blind bolts to remove the old steering lock.

I'm not sure you have the correct shopping list, in particular I can't see why you need the new instruments and think you may need an engine EMS rather than a convenience module, but yes hatch parts will work.

Once you can prove legal ownership you can take the douments to a Skoda dealer and order new keys for less than the cost of the listed parts. Takes about two weeks.

This would be very expensive from the dealer

The only parts required would be a new steering lock and ignition barrel with keys

Cheers guys. Just to add, I'm not a naive child aha, fully aware of the situation regarding V5 and legal owners etc.

Not my first rodeo ;)

I know on some vags and a lot of Vauxhalls the immobiliser system includes the clocks so wanted to rule this out.
