2000 1.6 GXLI high petrol consumption

Featured Replies

Hoping someone could help me troubleshoot whats up with my new car.  I've never seen a car use so much fuel.  The previous owner has had the car from new and serviced it every year (currently at 74k miles)  According to the receipts she's been serviced every year and has recently had the cam belt and all the filters changed.  £10 has done roughly 20 miles around town tonight (if that) and that's with me being as careful as possible on the throttle.  The only time i've had a car use close to this much was when the fuel filter needed changed...

The only apparent issue with the car is the engine can sometimes stutter when in idle.  Hope someone can help

thanks

Coolant temp sensor would be my 1st suspect.

This needs VCDS. I suspect the CTS too, but that can be tested by reading reported values with VCDS (not with generic code readers though).
