Internal loose trim...!?!

Featured Replies

Evening.

I don't post on here that often, but this is worthy of a post!! SWMBO has a very nice brand new Monte Carlo which I was giving it's first clean today....

Whilst cleaning the water away from the inside of the drivers door by the "A" pillar, the trim on the inside by the door hinges came way from its fixings!! As you may expect, I'm devastated to have potentially caused this to happen! The same trim in the passenger door is fine...

Would this down to poor build quality, shoddy workmanship, or my clumsy car cleaning?? I'm soooooooooooooo cheesed off its beyond words!! A visit to the dealers on Monday is in order!!

Possibly a bit of shoddy production line fixing. My Fabia had two door seals that weren't correctly fitted...and had been missed on PDI..but only took meva couple of minutes to sort and didn't feel the need to make an issue of it.

I'm sure dealervwill, fix yours. Blame SWMBO for not competently checking it on collection. And duck.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmm..................................... no!! I rather like my gentleman jewels attached!! I did the delivery inspection, so hence I'm so upset.

Ah. Revert to Plan B...trim was a bit shodilly fixed, but not obviously so, otherwise you, and dealer, would have spotted it. Was just waiting to fall off and could have happened at any time. In fact, you are pleased it fell of when it did and not when SWMBO was out in it and might have blamed herself. You don't want her getting upset un-necessarily, so this is a bit of a blessing in disguise. And duck....or, at least, try not to smirk.

Popped into the dealer today as we were passing. A chap from the sales team had a look and said that it shouldn't have happened. I'm going back tomorrow to have the service dept take a look and get it sorted asap.

It's taken the shine (no pun intended) off my detailing today to get the car up to speck and add some protection for the winter.

Tell SWMBO that you have lost confidence in cleaning the car and you are psychologically damaged from the whole trim experience.

Explain that you would prefer her to clean the car from now on as you have been traumatised by it,making sure you look slightly fearful when you go near the car. Pretend to make a doctor's appointment about it and get very slightly tearful. You'll never have to wash the car again (unless she makes you go to a car wash where you pay £5 for the privelige because you told fibs).
