My Octy2.0fsi is sick and I need help

Two weeks ago i felt that something was'nt quite right with my Octy. Mpg and power seemed fine, but a different engine note was there at about 4000 revs a fan like noise appeared and only disapeared below 2500 revs. The sound was llike a jet engine shutting down. I thought was it new tyres having changed from Bridgestones to Michelin Premacys.

The car was parked up at an airport for 5 days while I was on business, on my return the enginemanagement /emmission warning light came on, as it was 11pm and i did'nt fancy waiting for the AA I switched off and restarted a couple of times and the light stopped.

Next day I took car to dealers to be told that my hand free kit (which was profesionaly fitted and wired into my stream unit with an approved VAG Lead ) was the cause and therefore not covered by warranty and the Car was now dangerous to drive as ESP and ABS was not functionong propally.

The In -car people and my dealer are now working on the problem to see whats causing this malfunction.

My only thought is that about 6 weeks ago I started the car whilst in reverse and with the phone in the cradle and the Stream unit howled through all the speakers and the went into a major sulk and refused to work at all until the next day.

The dealer reckons this is the 1st 2.fsi he'd had to work on and was'nt that familier with the engine (god help him when the vrs hits his workshops)

Any Ideas out there in Skodaville?

2.0FSI Elegence Corrida Red ESP Maxidot and light Thingy 6months old 25k on clock

This sounds like the connection has come loose between the turbo and the inlet system hence why it goes below 2500 as the turbo will not be boosting.

If the dealer did not check this I would worry about how good they are.

Hope this helps

Thats exactly what it sounds like to me, except its a 2.0fsi petrol non turbo.

Should find ou tomorrow as Skoda (uk) are now involved.

I have a 1.9TDi and I'm sometimes aware of a fan type noise when I'm cruising on the motorway. I initially thought it might be a normal turbo noise, but dipping the clutch on a downhill bit still doing 70 odd, it was still there. It's just like another distinct sound coming from the engine bay. I don't think it's there all the time and it's not tyre roar or wind noise, definately a mechanical sound from the engine bay. Climate control is switched completely off. Not too worried about it as the car drives fine and mpg is incredible. Would just like to know what it is and ideally would like to eliminate it, it just doesn't seem like it should be there.

Could the rad fan make a fan type noise?:D

And me, we thus far have nothing to go on workshop manual wise.
