Car security

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have purchased a 2002 octavia estate 1.9 diesel Elegance.

My question is this, I accidentally locked my missus in the car the other day, is there an emergency unlock situated in the inside of the car anywhere?

Nick

"Accidentally", officer... honest!! :D

Mine has a rocker switch on the driver's armrest, up by the four window switches. One side locks the car, the other unlocks it.

I'd have to check, but most cars unlock when you use the inside handle to open the driver's door, at least, if not both front doors.

Unless you 'accidentally' locked her in the boot, of course...!! :D

How was she locked in, anyway? If the key is inside, she can still press the button to get out. If the key is outside, you can release her.

Why are you asking? Is she still in there and you're making sure she can't get out?  :D

To answer your question - I think when the doors are deadlocked the handles inside don't work. Not sure about the unlock switch on the driver's door though. Lock yourself in the car and try it?!
