Octavia MK2 battery

Featured Replies

My Octovia is 1.9 L Diesel. The original battery was Varta 60 aH. Since it is not readily available in India, I am searching for equivalent Exide make. My garage has suggested DIN74 i.e. is 74 aH. Exide online support also suggest 74 aH along with 60 aH. By putting 74 aH would I put the electricals and electronics at risk? I could not locate the battery specification recommended by SKODA.

The larger the battery, the better.

I'm surprised you could get away with just 60ah on a 1.9 diesel. My alhambra 1.9 tdi has a 100ah exide battery.

varta E44 096 77Ah is a briskoda favourite so as above a higher spec battery does no harm and better for cold starts

Just get a good quality battery that is listed for the car, or use the number off the old battery for cross reference! Your original was up-to the job so why look for a different one? I am in the trade and everyone is hooked on ah, or how many amps is it etc. Just no need, get a banner battery 5 year guarantee! 1 year more than a Bosch! And fit and forget simples.
