Washing your jeans

Recommended Posts

...with your keys still in them.

Yes, 10 minutes before the wash cycle ended I realised my key was still in my jeans. The ones in the washer.

It's a KESSY key. I retrieved it in one piece and it actually worked first press.

I opened up the case (what a pain that is until you learn the trick), and took out the battery then left the key to dry.

Once dry I put a new battery in and the key seems to behave as if nothing happened. The inside of the key looked like it was cased in plastic, but I didn't take it fully apart to see the other side.

Has anyone else had the dreaded Key in the Wash happen to them? Did your key live?

Not mine but I remember reading someone on the Turkish forum taking a dip and the key survived nonetheless. So, well, looks like it's not that sensitive, also considering the harsh conditions of the washing machine and all the chemicals from the detergent. Or you were lucky :)

Still, it might be a good idea to carry your extra keys just in case..
