vrs damaged grille

Featured Replies

has anyone changed their front bumper because of a damaged grille, mine got cracked by a low flying pigeon, as the car is coming to the end of its pch lease in 5 months,i was wondering how much the bottom line was generally for this repair, not sure whether to chance leaving it the penalty may be less than repairing it,

AFAIK it's approx £800+ at stealer rates. Entire new bumper and painting. Ludicrous design.

The grille CAN be replaced separately, but it requires removal of the bumper, cutting out the old grille, and plastic welding the new one in. Search this forum for "fitting Superskoda honeycomb grille", I'm sure someone did a 'how-to'

I agree, it's a terrible design. The grill should simply clip into a frame, not be part of the bumper.

I have my new grille in the loft awaiting fitting - they are plastic weld glued in place. The new one I have is an original - Skoda part numbers and logos in the moulding, so someone has access to the OE supplier - got it on Ebay for £70

Smart repair like chips away could probably weld and spray it.

Mine was replaced back end of last year through insurance as well as bending out and reshaping the bonnet due to a pheasant!!

I didn't quite believe the body shop when they quoted for a bumper because we looked at it at the time and all looked fine, when I questioned it I was shown the old one in the scrap pile due to these plastic welds.
