Scout brakes

Featured Replies

My Scout has now done 35k miles and the discs have corroded.

I took it to a local specialist who ordered Brembo parts based on the vag parts catalogue.

The brake pads listed for my car didn't fit.

It seems I have calipers and pads from an a6 all road 3 litre, not the part listed for a scout!

Has anyone had a similar experience of oddness?

Did the specialist order parts using your reg or VIN?

It's not impossible that the calipers and discs are common with the A6 (although I'm surprised), but it's also possible that the parts they ordered were listed for an older Scout or different Octavia with a smaller engine?

If you have owned the car from new, it's not likely to have had uprated brakes retrofitted?

The catalogues are often outdated or just inaccurate!

I have a Scout (2015) and we have also noticed that the discs corrode incredibly quickly - just a misty day and they look as if the car has been standing for weeks, and the rust causes vicious braking first few times. I do think there is an issue with the quality of the steel in these discs...

If you have steel discs I would worry.
