Very erratic tickover

Featured Replies

Driving car sometimes hard, stopping for a quick pee, when starting car again the tickover is high and erratic...... I drive on, but getting to lights/junction, the st

tickover can be as high as 1500rpm & won't settle down???? Any ideas please, is it a common problem??

Throttle pedal can stick a bit on them. If you give the throttle a quick blip does it return to normal, or also try lifting the pedal up with toe underneath it a bit? If that returns it to normal you can take it off and clean it out and should be fine again search on here for guides when folk have done so.

Yes, I've tried that but yes, sometimes that does work, but the last time the erratic tickler happened, every time I changed gear the idle was about 1400, to a point, it's dangerous especially when going down a step hill, the car wantsto go faster cos of the throttle stuck open..... might just with your suggestion of the throttle pedal, then work my way with camshaft sensor, then coolant sensor & finally the (is it MAF sensor) I think it's called....

Thanks for replying buddy, luckily it only happens on a pedal flat to metal journey, every time the EGR comes on but that's usual ( use forte to cure on fill up)
