5th gear juddering feeling

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

My 2012 diesel VRS has started to give a juddering feeling through the pedal when accelarating from 50mph to 60 and then it disappears. The car itself doesn't judder or anything it's just felt through the pedal and I've not noticed it in any other gears.

Does anyone have any idea what it might be? I can't help but think that it feels expensive.

That's a very low rpm range for 6th gear.  You can try to replicate in say 5th at same revs that 6th would be in doing 50mph and see if you can still feel it (although I would expect it to be diminished somewhat).

The engine is trying to build boost but low rpm means there's not a lot of it so fuelling is a bit off.

It could be as simple as certain parts (EGR or VNT mechanism) are getting a bit dirty and it shows itself in this type of response when the engine is under the most load (low revs, high gear).

A free thing you could try is to give it a really good Italian tune and see if it's better.
