Battery flat

Featured Replies

Ok so being the idiot I am I left the car turned on (one ignition click) overnight and obviously come out this morning and the battery is flat. Battery is only a few years old and I've had no issues starting as of late I'm just wanting some advice on how to charge it? If I should charge it etc

It's a mk1 fabia vrs

If you have an old school or dumb charger, if you have time, connect it to that on trickle charge for maybe 12 hours, after that change to normal/high charging - all that is assuming that you have a maybe 5 or 8 amp charger. Then leave it charging, if time still allows until the charger is just "ticking over".

Failing that, if time is of the essence, whack it hard as you can with what ever charger you have long enough to get it up to being able to start the car, then take car for a significant run.  What has happened has happened so just get on with it and hope for the best.

Edit:- best plan going forward will be to NEVER EVER leave the keys in the switch or in the car.

Thanks for that.

i was able to leave the car at my parents and the neighbour lent them a charger. It was left on charge for a few hours and it was able to start. Engine light came on and stayed on I've error coded it which is p2100 throttle actuator. However I've turned it off and taken it for a run and it's stayed off and not had any issues.

will repeat the run before I go to bed
