Low frequency drone

Featured Replies

Been doing it a while now but it bugs me and I'm sure it's getting louder.

When driving at say 30-40 mph in 4th, I get this constant low frequency droning noise through the cabin. It sounds like the engine is labouring - which I guess it is slightly, but should still be able to do 35mph in 4th. Even the slightest incline amplifies this sound. As the revs start to climb, the noise disappears. I tend to drive in a lower gear now than normal - less drone but less mpg too, so not ideal.

I have a feeling that the DMF might be on its way out, as it's been making some strange noises. Is this the possible source of the droning sound? Or could it be something else?

any suggestions?

Cheers
