Secret of the Codes

Featured Replies

In a different thread ("Wiper Position") Lummox writes:

"If you dont like the secondary wipe pop into your local dealer and they will code it out for you."

Which got me thinking - just what can be changed on the Octy 2 by changing the software codes? Is there a definitive list anywhere?

For example, in that thread people complain about the rain-sensitive wipers playing up - can the sensor be disabled?

And I gather some things such as light-assist can be adjusted by the user via the Maxidot display.

So ideally one would like to know what one can do onesself (which I realise may be in the manual, but our new car's still 8-10 weeks away) and what can be changed by the dealer (presumably at little or no cost if it's just plugging in and changing a value in the code). Is such info available?

OK, that's one, but is there a complete list anywhere?

Rain sensitve wipers cant be altered, according to the three sealers Ive spoken to anyway.

Stuck with the bloody things

I've been able to find the complete list in German, but since my german isn't too good, I've read the english version for the Golf V, which is basicly the same computer installed.

If you want to have a go at the german version of the Octavia II, you can find it at : http://de.openobd.org/skoda/octavia_1z.htm

Good luck

P.S My dealer were not awair of the existence of this list so I gave him one, and now they're testing what is possible to change and what possible side effects this produces.

There isnt really a list as far as ive seen for the Octavia 2 as it uses hexidecimal coding for the central electrics and convienance systems.

The only way i know of is by using the dealer equipment.

Has anyone tried the latest VAG-COM software and Ross-Tech HEX+CAN interface on the Octavia 2 to see how it handles hexadecimal coding?
