What clutch for a mapped pd100

Featured Replies

Have a friend with a 5 speed pd100 and hes had it mapped and clutch has started slipping,

Knowing i have a octy vrs with solid g60/vr6 conversion he asked if he could do same but i know bugger all about VAG diesel's,

Apparently it already has a solid flywheel as standard but have no idea if a VR6 clutch kit will fit,

Anybody help or suggest a upgrade for him

A replacement standard Sachs clutch should be just fine, even for the brutal powah of a remapped PD100!

Vr6 clutch should be ok

I wouldn't use a VR6 clutch on a TDI, they're simply not designed to cope with the torque diesels generate and there's no guarantee it would even fit the diesel flywheel.

Back in the old days we used to use diesel clutches as a performance upgrade because they were so much beefier.

Do they use the same solid flywheel a i have in my octy vrs then,

I know the G60 flywheel is the same as the abf gti engine

I would expect a single mass diesel flywheel to be a fair bit thicker and heavier than an equivalent petrol flywheel, dual mass flywheels were designed to reduce the overall mass of the flywheel without losing the damping and even idle characteristics of a heavier single mass item.

My PD 100's mapped by Shark to 154 and a smidge over 240 Ft.lb. Clutch was replaced with a standard Sachs clutch and it's given me no issues at all over the past year despite my often aggressive traffic light GP starts.
