Camera Phone Recommendation

Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone recommend a camera phone?

It's for my Mum, and it must be possible to take pictures off the phone by taking a card out.

I know someone with a Sony Ericson and that uses a memory stick.

Are there cheapish phones which use SD or XD cards?

My Mum doesn't have a PC or an email address to send photos to, so just taking out a card will be the best idea.

Thanks

Martin

What other requirements do you have? Flash, nightmode, certain megapixels?

without knowing the above though i would recommend the nokia 6230i with 1.3mp camera, nightmode and mmc cards

I'd never go with any phone other than a Nokia, but that isnt cos of the cameras, that's cos of the menus and usability etc.

I have a 6680 and the camera is very good. 1280pixels wide photos, 1.3mp. Need to hold it still though (processing power in these phones is still lacking, so slow to take=blury).

edit: also has nightmode flash etc. And is Triband + 3G capable.

What kind card does it use?

Thanks

it uses reduced sized dual voltage mmc's they normally come with an adapter to make them full size so you can stick them in a card reader too.

How big is the card you are using? i have found with the nokia phones that take RSMMC with large capacities, you find that the data write speed is to blame of the card, not necessarily the phone. This is why sonyericssons are great at taking photos to large cards, because memorystick pro duo is ultra fast at writing to.

Can you take memory sticks to places like Boots to get the photos printed?

I haven't seen them, though must admit I've never looked.

The Nokia 6230i is looking the best choice so far, £200 from Virgin though which is a bit much

Sony Ericsson K700I -- Good phone .. older generation.. but not bad as a camera..

cheaper option..

Samsung D500 --

I'm very pleased with my Nokia 6230 :D Don't forget that if you have a PC, you can transfer the pics from the memory card to a PC using a data cable/bluetooth/IR as well :D

Depends on your budget. To my mind the best two out there presently are the Nokia N70 (which I have) and the SE W900i. Both have 2MP sensors, and my N70 has 20x digital zoom (not sure about the W900i). There's night mode, a range of picture options, flash control etc.

I use a Kingston 512mb RS-MMC with mine and don't notice a massive speed issue. I do wait a little longer than when using my proper camera - but then that is a Canon 350D with a 66x CF card in it

If you can't stretch to either of those, the 6230i looks a good bet, or the K700i as mentioned earlier. The Samsung D-range seem to get good reviews for their camera quality too.

Good luck

I bought a 512MB one (was about

Sony Erricsson K750i, regarded as one of the best [uK] camera phones, has autofocus and Led (light). 2 Megapixel camera, uses Memory Stick duo [pro]. Comes with 64mb of memory, 512mb and 1gb can be picked up on ebay for between

Had a 6230 & 6230i, now have a K750i which is far superior IMHO and me a dedicated Nokia man until the K750i. Picked up the seperate Flash Gun off eBay as well for £17 and it makes a massive difference on night photos. Running with a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo again of eBay. Not had the chance to play with the new Nokia N Series though.

Is that anyone's blog on here' date=' or did you just find it randomly? There's some good pics on there, but I'm just wondering if some of them have been digitally 'tweaked' as the lighting etc looks a little too good to come from a camera phone, albeit a fairly decent one...

No-one here, I found it while researching the K750i. The guy is Czech and the pictures might be from prague I believe (he's got another non-flickr blog too, tells you more there.

I'm glad you liked the pics (the small dog one is really cool).
