Android Auto with Samsung Note 4

Featured Replies

Have been trying to get this working with the Bolaro unit on my sportline  but when I connect it keeps loosing connection. Really frustrating. Is my note 4 not up to it or do you kind briskodians  have any other ideas?

Try with another usb cable.

Thanks Scherpa, it worked with the native Samsung Cable as it think is a better fit than the 3rd party ones I have.

A little disappointed by the Android Auto Experience. Wanted to you Tidal with it but not joy there.

How is everyone else's experience with Android Auto (bar maps which seems to work well.

There is room for improvement, especially in messaging services but for me it works well with Spotify and TuneIn so I'm happy. Google maps is great but I hope they release Waze for Android Auto soon.

Yes I hear that Scherpa, for the functions I get I may just go back simple bluetooth streaming. Still I am only just getting used the the car so a little more playing to be done yet.

I have been in contact with Tidal just a few weeks ago, and they confirmed ... that they have no immediate plans for AA compatibility! :-(

I'm considering the switch to Spotify after being a Tidal (previously Wimp) user since 2009. But then again I almost never use AA so I haven't felt the real need yet.

Last thing I heard was that Waze would be available on AA this winter.

I have tried AA, but I find it so limited that I never use it. I instead have my phone attached to a small magnet plate on the air vent and use it primarily for Waze and if I play music via BT from my phone (Tidal, podcasts).

I have the phone box with wireless charging, but unfortunately Skoda hasn't really paid attention to the phone size development ;-) so even my LG G4, which is not huge, is struggling to lay flat there and receive charge.

Ditto, I have the phone box but have a Note 4... Certainly wont fit in there! I will have to try Waze. Does it provide real time traffic?

I like using Google nav as I can look up my destination on Chrome and send it to my phone ready to go. With AA I should just be able to connect and select then saving me doing the job twice.

Main advantage of AA is that Google Maps is *way* better than the inbuilt satnav at journey routing with traffic, TMS is a waste of space...

go ahead, Note's 4 screen is enough big to use it as (second) navigation display and leave car's display for radio or other stuff
also position on the dashboard is lot better for driving safety

Waze is an online system, lot better than Google; Here and can't be compared to built in Nav

This - plus with Google Maps you can see almost real time traffic on the road ahead. This is useful if you are driving towards standing traffic at 70ish mph with other numerous cars a few feet behind you. You can see the red line indicating very slow or standing traffic and therefore become aware of the impending hazard before it is visible. You can almost predict when all the brake lights of the lane 3 gang are going to light up, occasionally followed by flashing brake lights (emergency braking) or hazard warning lights. It is particularly helpful on undulating dual carriageways (e.g. sections of A1) where you can otherwise crest a hill to find standing traffic uncomfortably proximate.

Of course, you can do this with any half decent smart phone (or even feature phone), but having it on the 8inch display makes it much easier to read at a glance, plus you can zoom in and out of the map with a quick turn of the RHS knob.

I've also discover you can have a route programmed in the in-built sat nav, but then display Google Maps via AA so you can do the above but also get direction in the maxi-dot display.

Good tip that... Still find it clunky, especially when you get incoming calls its easy to lose the google maps on the main screen... I suppose I am still getting use to things and I don't do astronomical mileage so may take a while,
