Hi there.

 

I'm looking at replacing my ancient battered Honda Shuttle aka chilliwagon with a more modern estate but I am confused!

 

I really like the Octavia TDI 2.0 estate mk2. The car I'm looking at is a 2006 model. 

 

However I'm a bit concerned on loading weight. The payload of the shuttle is a whopping 700kg but the Octavia has a measly 470kg load which seems a bit pathetic. To put that into context my wife has a 2009 Fabia 1.4TDI hatchback and according to the owners manual, the payload is 515kg which is more than the Octavia.

 

We do lots of events so I need something with a big boot but also something that can hold the weight of gazebo, market weights, stock etc

 

Any advice would be appreciated.

According to the owner's manual here the load capacity for the Octavia II is 660 kg: http://www.skoda-auto.com/en/mini-apps/owners-manuals/pages/octavia-1z.aspx

 

Unless it's the PD170 when it drops to 540 kg for some reason.
