Hub Carrier

Featured Replies

Hey :)

my passenger side hub carrier has been going for some time,  lobbed in some bigger bolts, then it rattled then loose again, so again some bigger ones.

but its starting to go :). I cant seem to find a passenger side one anywhere , all driver side. ( Fabia Vrs Special edition ).

I seen the post that inidcate these fit

6L Ibiza Sport/FR/Cupra

9N Polo GT/GTi

but do they have to come from a 1.9 car ? as I can find a polo n 1.4 diesal hub on the nearside.

Thanks for any help

You need one from a car with 288mm brakes. The others have the brake carrier built in and won't be suitable.

What do you mean exactly, that it's been "going" for some time? At some point it either won't stop at all or make a sudden turn and throw you into the scenery.

It needs fixing before something awkward (at best) happens.

ok thanks :)

Bolts had been overtighed and stripped threads on hub, so installed larger bolts, but did same thing, so put larger in again. but there just not holding up to scratch, so just need to replace with new unit

Have you ever considered using these repair threaded inserts as doing that would save you buying maybe a well worn hub assembly, plus by doing that you could fit them on both sides and consider that type of problem sorted?

I am meaning the "top hat" type of insert, not the plain "new thread" ones due to the thinness of the material and the fact that these "new thread" inserts are normally only used in soft castings in manufacture, ie "cross wire" or "helicoil" inserts are not for this type of repair.
