Use SD Slot 1 for Columbus Nav updates

Featured Replies

Does everyone know this, or am I the stupidest man in the universe? I followed the Columbus navigation update procedure to the letter. Correct SD card, ExFAT format, download after supplying my VIN. I would insert the card in the Columbus reader, the card would be recognised (update available) but when I went through the system update procedure, there was always an error.

I went to the dealer. They read my card, all the files were correct, but when we had the same problem again. I called Skoda and Customer Relations were back to me fairly quickly. They called the dealer, spoke to a man in the know and said he could help. I drove to the dealer with my 32 Gb SD card in hand.

Overnight, the software was downloaded and copied to my card. I drove to the dealer and Nick said let's see how we've done. He watched as I dismounted the two SD cards already in the slots, when I went to insert my update SD, Nick said, "No! Slot 1." The update went smoothly. I suppose that because slot 1 is harder to reach from the driver's seat than slot 2, I had never used it before? I can't recall. I thought I had tried everything. I'm on a Mac. I can't believe there is any difference in the downloaded file than a PC download.

Anyway, the thread title says it all: always use Slot 1 for system updates.

D'oh!

Either slot works in mine, whether map or firmware updates. It could also be a USB stick. The Columbus searches the attached devices for relevant files. Some people have had problems with cards originating from a Mac as it can put extra files on the card that the Columbus is not expecting and therefore fails to update.

Could I just ask, what did your POIs contain, and do they show up on the map? I'm having trouble getting mine to add the POIs, and seven I can get something to install it didn't show on the map despite being selected to do so?

Thanks
