Variable remap insurance

Featured Replies

So there are certain remappers that offer the option for you to switch between remaps with ease.

Anyone got any idea how you're supposed to cover that under insurance without calling everytime you want to change the remap?

Especially if it's something along the lines of : 1. stock, 2. small boost, 3. big boost.

Presumably if you quote the higher figure, end up driving the lower figure/at stock and end up having an accident, and they look at the ECU and decide you're below the boost you've specified you're out of luck.

Yes you declare & insure the modifications that you have, ie a Remap and power increase.

State you have a 'Switchable map that allows you to choose 'Valet / Maintenance' settings. Say whos Remap you have and where it was installed,

then there is less chance of mis-understanding',  Loss adjusters & crash investigators know about such things.

It is not like you get a discount if you put a block under your throttle pedal so that you can not floor a standard from the factory car.

Hi,

Normally we would just rate the risk on the highest available power output.

Regards,

Dan.

thanks @Awayoffski and @DAN@ADRIAN FLUX.

Will see things pan out with the job and look at a well known remap business for it.
