Few remap questions

Featured Replies

Looking at getting my tfsi remapped soon, just a few questions. I understand a stage one is just a remap with no other supporting mods and a stage 2 is a remap when exhaust and filter have been swapped. But my questions are, what are the results on a stage 1 map with an exhaust and filter fitted afterwards? And also what if you had the exhaust and filter but asked for a stage 1 even though you had them mods? If you understand what I'm trying to say? I have seen cars which claim stage 1 remap to have just as much power as a claimed stage 2?

Just for clarification, stage 2 is generally intake and a FULL EXHAUST (including the down pipe).  Stage 2 tune required to remove any CELS from the aftermarket downpipe.

I am assuming you're going to be doing an off the shelf Stage 2 map.  Ideally, you'd have the map purchased then flash it once the DP has been installed.  I believe that an aftermarket DP throws CELS and the stage 2 tune addresses this.

Terms like stage 1, stage 2, etc are to a large extent marketing terms. Each tuner will have their own interpretation of what those terms mean in terms of the modifications they apply. Your best bet is to talk to the tuners about what they offer and how that fits with what you want from the tune. The best option is to get a custom tune done on a rolling road but that may be a little more expensive.
