Hello, I Have recently been told by my friend that my car seems to have no power at low RPM. (He is comparing with his car that is same octy and with same engine)

So from that i have noticed that my car is quite slow while reaching the 1800 rpm and also when i put on higher gear it feels like it is too hard for car to pull.

Also the mpg seems lower than before.

Because of this i started to diagnose the engine to test for some common faults from internet and want to get some advice from someone that has faced such issue.

What i have checked:

  1. Removed MAF to check if car drives worse - It didn't, maybe it drove even a little better. (Because of this from now on i have focused to test the MAF)
  2. I have read that with bad MAF you are not able to get high RPM. - This was not true. I reached almost 5000 which i guess is rev limiter stopping me.
  3. I Have made some logging with VCDS and found some interesting conclusions:
    1. Actual and Specified MAF values are mostly very close, not counting some rare occasions.
    2. MAF values never reaches high values. On Idle usually 270mg/str and 385mg/str. (This seems quite low. I Have seen it over 400, but that still seems not enough)
    3. At the graph i noticed that it only starts to rapidly grow at high RPM which is where i get a lot of power to the car. At about 1800rpm)

Next steps to do:

  1. I have recently Broken off the nozzle of Vacuum Reservoir, so i tried to glue it back, but maybe it has not been a good work and limiting necessary vacuum, so i will try to change that with a new one.
  2. I will try to remove MAF and clean it with contact cleaner.
  3. Try to check other vacuum tubes for some vacuum leakage.
  4. Check Catalytic converter. Maybe it is full?
  5. Last resort is to check Timing on the camshaft.

What i want from you:

  1. I hope that you can share me your experience with similar issues.
  2. Or you can Tell me if this symptoms can be caused by bad timing or would there be different symptoms?
  3. Give me some other hints on what to check.
  4. Maybe some common places where the vacuum tubes break?
  5. Can the Catalytic Converter give this issue and can it be cleaned?

I hope that you can help and guide me with this issue and maybe lead me to some possible solution.

And Thank you For your time.
