VRS oil leak at top of engine.

Featured Replies

I have noticed my vrs is spraying oil around the top of the engine. I have oil on the bottom right of the engine cover.  Also oil on the bonnet.

Any ideas?

Check the condition of your breather hoses and dipstick tube under the inlet manifold, also the rocker box gasket for leaks.

Just replaced the funnel and dipstick. I take the cover off and see if it's the rocker. No idea which hose it could be leaking.

Put a pic up?  Or clean it all up and see wha returns

When you say funnel, I take it you mean the yellow dipstick tube?. If I am correct in that assumption, then are you sure you cleared all of the old dipstick tube plastic out of the groove that it pushes into?, as if the tube does not seat, it won't seal properly.

Also, while you have the main cover off, check the "y" pipe for splits/turning to mush at the back of the rocker box, near the N75.

There is also a plastic 90 degree pipe that sits into the breather housing by the oil filter that can crack and pressurise/leak.

But as Liverpool-Lad said, until you clean the area properly, you may be thrown off by the general oil mist around the area. An egg cup of oil can look like an industrial grade spill when it warms and spreads out

Hope it helps.

Had a deeper look into this and the new dipstick holder moves very slightly when removing the dipstick on the fixing point up on the bracket near the manifold. I take it that's not normal?

Also I have found a long split one of the breather pipes right under the inlet manifold, going by diagrams on here it looks like part 06a 103221 af, but when I rang my local stealer they said that part number cannot be found. Anyone know the new part number? assuming its been discountinued.

Thanks guys.
