Radiator fans

Featured Replies

Hi,

octavia MK1  2002, 1.6 petrol- AVU

148000 km.

I have issues with my radiator fans. In the past weeks i notices fans are not stopping after I switch off engine. They continue to run until I start the engine and stops. This happens in cold start fans starts work immediatly i start the engine and SAIP do not starts at all. Engine starts in the second try only.
I think ECU assumes engine is warm( though even it is cold) as fans starts and does send the signals to SAIP. Engine struggles to start.
After running few km engine temp dows not raises to 90 degrees, stays around 70 degrees. When I stop and starts the engine the it comes up 90 degrees.

Skoda dealer tells me it could be fans controll relay.
But I also suspect  the coolant temp sensor or termostat.

Can anybody help me?

The coolant temperature sender is well-known for causing problems on these cars, and it has been upgraded by Skoda over the years. It's worth fitting a new one, as it is a cheap part and a fairly simple job to replace.

The newest versions are green.
