Tuning companies AKS or RTEC for octavias

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This is my first post so apologies if this is the wrong section of the forum.

I have the oppotunity to chose between two Octavias, one 2006 mk2 and one 2011 mk2FL. Both have been modified: the mk2 has been modified by RTEC - everything done by them with a stage 3 custom remap, forged Twintercooler, Upgraded fuel pump, sports clutch, forge dump valve with reinforced pipes, full K&N typhoon induction kit, adjustable coilovers and a miltek turbo back and sports cat. Resulting in 350 bhp.

The mk2FL has been modified by AKS - everything done by them. It has a brand new engine due to a timing chain failure - engine replaced by skoda using a mk3 engine. Car has a stage 2 remap with supporting mods. Full jetex exhaust system with sports cat , full induction kit , helix racing clutch, lowered on coilovers with spacers so wheels sit flush with the arches. Resulting in about 300bhp (though the owner admits its never been dyno'd).

Both are about the same money and with 10k miles between them on the clock.

I am unsure of which one to choose. is one of the tuning companies more reputable than the other?

Help!?!?!

Thanks!

Welcome.

How do they drive, how do they look, which do you prefer?

Only you can decide, others can just pass on their experience of those tuners, but then the tuners know the cars, ask them about them if you have not already,

obviously both heavily modified so which is the one that suits your wants.

Have you checked past MOT history, advisories etc?

Are you OK for getting insurance on both of these with a Specialist Insurer?

Have fun choosing.

george
