Should i buy? 1.4 TDI (PD) Fabia 2

Featured Replies

Morning all,

I currently have a seat altea, on which the turbo has just failed, its 12 years old, done 120k.

Not in a posistion to spend lots at the moment, but i've potentially got an opportunity to purchase a fabia 2, 1.4 TDI PD (80 BHP) 2007 year.

So what are the main things i need to watch out for on the car if i do look to purchase? any common problems? I have a vag-com so able to run diagnostic run, but looking for any common problems engine/body wise that i should check first? (EG i know my BKD engine had problems with EGR and turbo overboost)...

Any help would be appriciated, i've signed up to the forum just to ask the question before i commit!

I think excessive noise from the DMF.

My experience of a polo 1.4 tdi and a lupo 1.4 tdi pd75 was the power was very much off and on - not much fun when pulling away from a roundabout / junction etc. which a map can cure.

Nice little 3 cylinder thrumm!

I think the basis of the engine is 3/4 of a 1.9 tdi which is a good thing- I am not sure if the 80 has common rail or pd?

Lupo was a great car and wishes I hadn't sold it.

Hope this helps?

Power steering rack mine went at 60k ish, it was a leaky rack on mine but the pumps can go also so check that out. Window switches can be temptemnetal.

Other than that, the normal cambelt and service history is one to check
