Rear Lights

Featured Replies

I am thinking about upgrading the lamps in both the reverse lamps and rear indicators on my Mk3 VRS 2016. I will leave the fronts for now as it looks a right job. Ive just changed the fogs to Cree lamps which make a massive difference but a beggar to get in. My question is what needs to be coded for both rear indicators and reverse lamps.....  Anyone?

I have experience with these, none of them trigger bulb-out warning, so no need for coding.

Rear indicators:

1st

2nd

3rd

1st and 2nd are 2-3 times brighter than the original, 3rd is simply brutal, just check this video. :)

Reverse:

link

This one is 2-3 times brighter than the classic filament bulb.

All listed LED bulbs have a built-in constant current driver and they are good quality. None of them failed.

P.S. removing the rear clusters for the first time is a bit of pain in the ..., too. :)

Just out of interest which ones are you running for indicators. The 3rd one looks mental.

aki78 & xpower are the dons of dons when it comes to anything to do with lights B) On aki78 recommendation a year ago, I have the (2nd) linked ones he posted which are amazing.

Have these for reverse lights:

& still till this day, they work faultlessly with no bulb warnings or anything

I am using the 3rd one. Yes, it's too bright like on some expensive new cars. ;)

If that's too much for you buy the 2nd one. That's a bit better than the 1st one.

Thanks for your help... I've gone for the second. I will see how that looks first.

Ordered the units in the 2nd link and just installed - works brilliantly!

Installation wasn't too hard. Taking the whole unit out was the hardest bit, due to the two pegs holding it in place. I ended up using a snow scraper wrapped in a cloth to slide it down the gap and prise the unit out, rather than wiggling it around. Also, sliced my finger open on the plastic trim hiding the first two screws (!)

The locking-latch for the cable was a bit of a pain, too, but using the torx key (flat end) from the tool kit flicked the red lock outward, and using the same end, press down on the black tab released by the red lock. Plug just pulls out, then.

No errors, just works and the brightness in daylight is on-par with the standard filaments, perhaps slightly brighter. Yet to see them at night. Response time is LED-quick, so it finishes the look off nicely.

What is it about aliexpress.com that people here seem to like, is there no company in the UK that can supply the same items? just wondering as it takes 20-40 days to receive an order from them.

Cheap...
